Many Hands Came Together to Create Na Hale O Maui

More than 200 Maui residents have joined and contributed to the organization with the goal: “To secure and preserve a permanent supply of affordable housing alternatives for low and moderate income households in Maui County.”

It takes a community to build a hale

Nā Hale O Maui, a community land trust (CLT) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation, and was founded by a group of private citizens in 2006. Private donations and County of Maui Affordable Housing Fund grants allowed the organization to grow and become a nonprofit housing developer of single family homes.

Nā Hale O Maui depends on grants and donations to fund our programs and provide permanent housing for Maui residents. Mahalo to our dedicated supporters!

Mahalo to our hosts, sponsors, and volunteers for helping us raise over $61,000! These funds will help us build and rehab 8 homes in the upcoming year.

NHOM received $3,000,000 in 2010 from the HUD Neighborhood Stabilization Program (NSP) to purchase and rehabilitate abandoned foreclosed homes for resale to income qualified families earning no more than 140% of area median income as community land trust homes. We also have received Project Grant funding from the County of Maui Affordable Housing Fund and recently $3,500,000 from the County of Maui to build 7 new 4-bedroom homes in Maui Lani. To date we have acquired, rehabilitated, built and sold 50 desirable single family homes. We are currently renovating an additional home AND are in the process of building 7.
