‘Swing for Aloha’ golf tournament raises $56K for affordable housing on Maui
Nā Hale O Maui raised more than $56,000 at its 9th annual golf tournament fundraiser on April 6, 2025, to support affordable housing construction in Kahului.
Held at Mākena Golf & Beach Club, this year’s sold-out “Swing for Aloha: Driving Hope, Building Homes” tournament drew 18 teams and featured a farm-to-fork dinner, an online auction and contests including a Longest Drive competition.
Proceeds from the event will go toward building seven affordable homes in the Fairways at Maui Lani for income-qualified families.
Support Affordable Housing Alternatives in Maui County!
Affordable housing on Maui is still high on the list of citizen concerns. The past drop in real estate values has helped make homes for Maui’s workforce more affordable. However, most families are still priced out of the single family home market, and the median sale price is rising again.
NHOM received $3,000,000 in 2010 from the HUD Neighborhood Stabilization Program (NSP) to purchase and rehabilitate abandoned foreclosed homes for resale to income qualified families earning no more than 140% of area median income as community land trust homes. We also have received Project Grant funding from the County of Maui Affordable Housing Fund. To date we have acquired, rehabilitated and sold 46 desirable single family homes.
